ParaDYM, Inc. was founded in 2008, by Duane P. Pierre, a graduate of Central Connecticut State University (CCSU.) ParaDYM has worked with over 150 students throughout the Central and Southern regions of Connecticut. What started as a volunteer initiative, quickly became a sought after enrichment program for organizations like Girls, Inc. of Meriden, Capital Preparatory Magnet School in Hartford and Organizational Industrialization Center (OIC) in New Britain. Since formally incorporating as ParaDYM, Inc. in 2013, ParaDYM has cultivated enduring relationships with the New Britain Unified School District and Central Connecticut State University. We currently operate our training and mentoring program, ParaDYM Academy in CCSU’s Downtown Campus at ITBD and, CCSU’s community center. ParaDYM Academy current serves 20 New Britain High students during the school year and we are planning to expand to offer a second program i the evenings to accommodate 20 – 25 additional students. ParaDYM works closely with several departments at CCSU including the Communications Department, TRiO and the Office of Community Engagement. We employ dedicated staff, student volunteers from CCSU who mentor our students in their pursuit of academic excellence, core competencies and life skills and industry professionals who coach our students in media literacy and production. For CIPHIR, Dr. Rati Kumar, an associate professor in the Communication Department at CCSU, is the primary investigator, Kaemaii M. Pierre, MSW is our youth advocacy trainer, and several volunteers, mentors and research assistants have been recruited from the student body of CCSU.
